Macklemore reacts to Grammy nominations

Rapper Macklemore says it feels "very surreal" that he and his partner, Ryan Lewis, have been nominated for seven awards at the upcoming Grammys.

Following the Grammy Nominations Concert Friday, Macklemore pointed out how far the duo has come in the past year and a half.

While the duo has been on the winners board at numerous awards ceremonies over the past year, Macklemore says picking up even one Grammy trophy would be a "lifelong achievement" for both he and Ryan Lewis.  As they worked on their hit album The Heist -- which was nominated for Album of the Year -- Macklemore says neither of them had any idea that their hard work would result in multiple Grammy nods.

Until the January 26th Grammy Awards ceremony, the rapper says he and his partner will try to show gratitude to those fans who supported them over the past year.

During Friday's Grammy Nominations Concert, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis racked up nominations in three of the major categories, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for their hit single "Same Love."  They also received nods in the categories of Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best Music Video.  Meantime, Jay Z is leading the nominations board with nine nods.  Kendrick Lamar received seven nominations, while Drake landed five.  The 56th Grammy Awards will be televised live on CBS from Los Angeles' Staples Center.
